AYS selects Jake McQuaid
 as Concerto Winner

The Akron Youth Symphony is pleased to announce that Jake McQuaid has been selected as a winner at the 2020 Concerto Competition.

Jake is a senior at GlenOak High School, where he has spent his entire high school career. Jake has been fascinated by music all of his life. He started his musical journey in the third grade playing the piano, and he hasn’t stopped since.

Jake has been in multiple ensembles throughout his middle and high school years. He has enjoyed being a part of Marching Band, Concert Band, Jazz 1, Symphonic Winds, The Mount Union Flute Choir, Canton Youth Symphony, Canton Youth Symphony Advanced Orchestra, and the Akron Youth Symphony. In every ensemble that he plays with, Jake always strives to be the best he can be.

Today, you see him playing his flute and piccolo. However with different ensembles, come different instruments, and Jake has been entranced by the woodwind family. You can find Jake playing piccolo, flute, oboe, clarinet, piano, and everything in-between around his community. After graduation, Jake plans to attend college, majoring in music education.

Congratulations Jake!
