AYS selects Miriam Koby as Concerto winner
Miriam Koby, 16, has been playing violin for eight years, and is actively involved in performances, including solo, chamber, and orchestra, throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond.
Miriam has taken part in many competitions, including progressing to the semifinal round in the Ensemble du Monde solo competition in New York City, and being state representative for Ohio in the MTNA Senior String Competition in 2018.
Miriam has completed four semesters of music theory courses at Kent State University. This year, she was personally invited to serve as Concertmaster of the orchestra in the Akron All-City Musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, to be held at the Akron Civic Theatre in June.
This is Miriam’s fourth year with AYS, and she had the pleasure to serve as Concertmaster for the majority of the 2017-18 season.
She will perform a violin solo of the Allegro molto appassionato movement from Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor at the Akron Youth Symphony’s Spring Concert on May 6.
Congratulations Miriam!
