The Akron Youth Orchestras will present a Winter Concert on January 27 at 3 p.m. at Tallmadge High School.

The concert will include the Akron Youth Philharmonic, under the baton of Music Director Douglas Bayda, performing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1, Wagner’s Grand March from Tannhauser, Washburn’s Caravelle Overture, and Farandole from Bizet’s L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2.

The Akron Youth Symphony, under the baton of Music Director Eric Benjamin, will follow with popular selections from Fauré’s Suite Masques et Bergamasques, Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, and Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances.

Tickets, which are required for the performance, are $10; children age 10 or younger are free. Tickets may be purchased online, by calling the Symphony Box Office at 330.535.8131, or at the door starting one hour prior to the performance.

Tickets purchased the week of the concert will be available at the Will Call table on the day of the performance. All ticket sales are final.

Tallmadge High School is located at 140 North Munroe Road in Tallmadge.

The Akron Youth Symphony is one of the finest youth orchestras in Ohio and is the flagship ensemble of the Akron Youth Orchestra program. The Akron Youth Symphony provides an outstanding pre-professional educational experience for advanced music students. (Learn more.)

For the past 33 years, the Akron Symphony Orchestra and the Akron Public Schools have co-sponsored the Akron Youth Philharmonic, which has provided the opportunity for talented students to perform a wide variety of orchestral literature with their peers. The Youth Philharmonic is geared toward sixth through ninth graders, but is open to all qualified middle and high school students from area school districts, as well as home-schooled students.
