The Hudson Library & Historical Society will cap off its February “Taste of Italy” programming series by welcoming members of the Akron Symphony Orchestra for a virtual concert of Italian music through the centuries.

This concert will premiere on the library’s Facebook page on February 28 at 2 p.m. and will be available for streaming on the library’s YouTube page anytime thereafter. Click here to access the library’s Facebook page.

Italian music holds an important place in the history and development of European classical music, and Italian composers played significant roles in the development of opera, the symphony, the concerto and the sonata. Akron Symphony violinists Amy Glick and Sarah Husak, accompanied by pianist Brent Schloneger will present works by composers ranging from Vivaldi to film composers. The program will focus on the characteristics that have made Italian music so popular such as beautiful melodies, dramatic elements, diversity and innovation.

This concert is sponsored by The Friends of the Hudson Library. For more information on the event, email AskUs@hudson.lib.oh.us or visit hudsonlibrary.org.

Please note: Performances are subject to change. For questions on the day of the virtual event, guests may call the Hudson Library at 330.653.6648 or visit the library’s website
