Because of the threat of severe storms and lightning forecast for tomorrow, we believe it will be much too dangerous to be on the water. After careful consideration, we have made the decision to cancel the Lakes Tour scheduled for Wednesday, July 17. This decision was made to ensure the safety of our passengers, crew, volunteers and the homes.

The Commodore Luncheon at the Tudor House, as well as the After Party at Pick’s at PLX, will still take place as scheduled.

If you purchased a ticket, please check your email for additional important information.

Thank you for your continued support of the Akron Symphony Guild and Akron Symphony Orchestra.

Did You Know?

A variety of unique homes will be featured on the 2019 Lakes Tour. All have been extensively and recently remodeled. Three homes are on East Reservoir; the fourth is on Turkefoot Island. All the homes feature beautiful landscaping and outdoor living areas integrating the lots into lakeside living.

The Turkeyfoot Island home dates from the early 1900s, when Portage Lakes became the summer playground of wealthy Akronites. This home used period historical flooring and tiles in its remodel.

The Dorwil Drive home’s substantial remodel included adding a second story and a breezeway to connect it to the garage sited above the house.

The Whitefriars Drive home, built in 1950, removed a massive wall, opening up the living room, kitchen and dining room, and uniting the rooms by the original pass-through stone fireplace.

The Peninsula Drive home also dates from the 1950s. It is an entertainer’s dream, with a large outdoor bar and terraced “party room” that descends to the water.

About the Musicians

Members of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Akron Youth Symphony and Akron Symphony Chorus will entertain tour-goers at designated stops during the day.
