Conductor Arnie Roth leads the Akron Symphony Orchestra and vocalist Susan Calloway in the final program of the 2023 Blossom Music Festival season. Distant Worlds showcases the diverse and constantly expanding repertoire of classic FINAL FANTASY music in an innovative multimedia concert experience that has delighted audiences all over the globe. The series’ iconic soundtrack boasts pieces by many prominent video game composers, including the legendary Nobuo Uematsu, who specially curated the Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY concert tour. The program adds visuals to the music with high-definition video presentations from Square Enix, the FINAL FANTASY game developers, projected onto Blossom’s giant screens.
Christopher Wilkins conducts Beethoven’s towering Ninth Symphony with its famous finale, the “Ode to Joy.” Cleveland Institute of Music-trained composer and pianist Jerod-Tate leads his own work, Clans, drawing on the culture of his Chickasaw heritage. University of Akron’s Dr. LaDonna Blue Eye, citizen of the Choctaw Nation, narrates the story.
