(Akron—Ohio) On Wednesday, July 19, The Akron Symphony Friends will greet over 350 guests who will board pontoon boats for its 25th Anniversary of the Portage Lakes Tour of Homes. The Akron Symphony’s Lakes Tour raises funds for the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Youth Orchestras, Symphony Chorus, and Gospel Meets Symphony.
This iconic event treats sailors to a leisurely day visiting select waterfront homes while enjoying the cruise on the lakes with volunteer pontoon boat captains. Select pontoon boats will embark on the Tour from Smoke on the Water at 562 Portage Lakes Drive, while others will leave from their captains’ docks. Sailor-level guests will receive boxed lunches to enjoy aboard their boats. Commodore guests will also experience the ambiance of the historic Frank Raymond Mason Tudor House on Turkeyfoot Lake at a luncheon catered by the Waterloo Restaurant with dessert provided by Sole Mio.
The traditional After Party will be held at Smoke on the Water from 3 to 6 pm with live music provided by the Akron Symphony. All are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of music and the beautiful Portage Lakes. Menu items are available for purchase.
Although the boat rides are sold out, there are raffle tickets on sale for prizes including a gold anchor pendant and chain, a sterling silver ship’s wheel and chain, and a framed photograph of the Portage Lakes. Tickets are one for $10 and 3 tickets for $25. Winners need not be present to win. Information and tickets are available at www.akronsymphony.org or on Lakes Tour day in person at Smoke on the Water or Dano’s restaurants.
