Gospel Meets Symphony Choir
About the Choir
The Gospel Meets Symphony Choir joins with the Akron Symphony Orchestra each year to perform some of the world’s most uplifting, spirit-filled gospel and classical music under the direction of Akron Symphony Orchestra Music Director Christopher Wilkins and Gospel Meets Symphony Choirmaster Jonathon Turner. There are more than 70 churches represented in this 200-voice choir of talented volunteers from the Akron community.
No auditions are required for the Gospel Meets Symphony Choir. If you would like to participate, the first rehearsal is generally held in November at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, located at 442 Bell St. in Akron. The Gospel Meets Symphony Choir typically rehearses every Saturday from 2-4 p.m. from November through February under the direction of Choirmaster Jonathon Turner.
