AYS selects Jason Zhang as Concerto winner
Jason Zhang, a freshman at Hudson High School, joined the Akron Youth Symphony in eighth grade as a violinist.
Jason started his music education in piano, and was a finalist at the Young Artist World Piano Festival Concerto Competition, the winner of the Marilyn Walter Young Musicians Award, and a recipient of an Akron Youth Symphony Summer Scholarship.
Jason enjoys making music with other young musicians and is active in ensembles such as the Hudson High School Chamber Orchestra and Montessori Chamber Quartet. In addition to his music interests, Jason participates in many academic endeavors, including math and Science Olympiad competitions.
He will perform a piano solo of the Allegro molto moderato movement from Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor at the Akron Youth Symphony’s Spring Concert on May 6.
