Join us for this special night of music! Alex Bevan has been picking up his guitar and going to perform for audiences for over forty years, and for one night only, he’ll be joined by the Akron Symphony Orchestra, live on stage at EJ Thomas Hall. Prepare for a special night of music and storytelling, as only Alex Bevan can deliver by bringing his “Watersongs” album to life…. Melody will flow… magic will happen!
“Watersongs’ was the critically acclaimed ninth recording of original songs that explored Alex’s love for canoeing, kayaking, and sailing. It also marked Alex’s return to the acoustic singer/songwriter focus that brought him to notoriety in the “Springboard” and “Grand River Lullaby” releases. This romantic tour of our waterways is framed by the lush arrangements for orchestra created by conductor Eric Benjamin. Eric was captivated by the song cycle upon first hearing it and felt these works should have an opportunity to express themselves in a manner as large as the landscapes bordering the rivers and streams that inspired these lyrics and lines.
A parallel work to “Watersongs” was “All the Rivers Run”… a recording created from the songs written for the Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center. As a part of the thirtieth-anniversary celebration of the Conservancy for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Akron Symphony and Alex are proud to welcome students from Old Trail School and Urban Community School to sing the title song on stage.
This celebration of the natural world through the eyes and broad heart of Northern Ohio’s Troubadour, like the eclipse, is an opportunity to emotionally expand into a deeper understanding of the natural world through the joy of music!
